In the fiercely competitive field of carbon fiber prepreg and carbon fiber product manufacturing, A&E has always been highly praised for its excellent manufacturing capabilities and international benchmark quality. Behind this, a series of high-precision detection tools play an indispensable role. They are like "fire eyes and golden eyes", precisely controlling every batch of raw materials and finished products to achieve the best quality standards. Today, let me take you into Rongnan, Zhongshan to gain a deeper understanding of the high-precision testing tools and methods that safeguard quality.
High precision moisture measurement
Resin is highly sensitive to water, so it is necessary to conduct moisture content tests on the resin substrate and other solvents before production. Taking DMC (dimethyl carbonate) solvent as an example, if its moisture content is too high, it may lead to incomplete curing of the resin during the preparation process of the prepreg. Because moisture can interfere with the chemical bonding between resin and carbon fiber, thereby affecting the mechanical properties of prepreg, such as tensile strength, bending strength, etc.
A&E's high-precision moisture determination for various solvents is mainly based on the principle of Karl Fischer method. Karl Fischer reagent is a mixed solution containing iodine, sulfur dioxide, pyridine, and methanol. Taking DMC (dimethyl carbonate) detection as an example, when a DMC solvent containing water is injected into a reaction tank containing Karl Fischer reagent, water will undergo redox reactions with iodine and sulfur dioxide. During the reaction process, every mole of iodine consumed corresponds to one mole of water. By measuring the consumption of iodine during the reaction process, the moisture content in DMC solvent can be accurately calculated.
By using a high-precision moisture analyzer, we accurately control the moisture content of resin substrates and various solvents, and ensure that the raw materials used in the production process meet strict quality standards. Through this test, it helps to improve the consistency and stability of carbon fiber prepreg, ensuring that each batch of products has the same high-performance quality. And A&E has also achieved strict testing of all incoming batches, which is why our carbon fiber baseball bats and carbon fiber bicycles are popular worldwide.
Fully automatic refraction detection
In the preparation process of carbon fiber prepreg, Zhongshan Rongnan not only tests the important indicator of solvent moisture content, but also has strict requirements for solvent purity. The fully automatic refractometer can accurately measure the refractive index to reflect the solvent purity. If the purity of the solvent used in the resin blending process is not sufficient, it will affect the performance of the resin. Once impurities are mixed into the solvent, its refractive index will change. Impurities may react chemically with the components in the resin or interfere with the normal arrangement of resin molecules, thereby affecting the impregnation effect of the resin on carbon fibers
During the refraction test, the internal light source of the testing instrument emits light, which passes through the collimation system and becomes parallel light, illuminating the solvent in the sample cell. After the light is refracted in the solvent, it is received by the detector through the optical system. At this point, the detector begins to measure the angle of the refracted light and converts it into an electrical signal. Finally, the refractive index of the solvent is calculated through the algorithm inside the instrument.
A&E's refractive index detection of the feed solvent helps ensure that the solvents used in the production process always meet quality requirements, thereby ensuring the quality stability of carbon fiber products. By accurately grasping the purity of the solvent, problems such as loose bonding between carbon fiber and resin and decreased mechanical properties of the product caused by impure solvent are avoided, which improves the overall quality of the product and the controllability of the production process.
The outstanding performance of A&E in the manufacturing capability and quality of carbon fiber products cannot be separated from the comprehensive implementation and application of high-precision testing tools and testing mechanisms. We believe that relying on constantly improving detection technology and innovative production processes, we will bring more high-quality products to the carbon fiber industry in the future and maintain a leading position in market competition.
